Banyan Golf Club was established in the early 1970s when a group of passionate golfers decided to create their own club after discovering that their beloved course was set to be replaced by a condominium complex. Designed by the renowned golf architect Joe Lee, famous for his work on the NCR Golf Course in Dayton, Ohio—host of the 1969 PGA Championship—the course officially opened in December 1973, with the Clubhouse following shortly after. Unfortunately, in 1982, the original Clubhouse was destroyed by fire. However, the resilient Banyan community quickly rebuilt, completing a new Clubhouse in just 11 months. In 2018, the Golf Course underwent a significant $3 million renovation overseen by Kipp Schulties, which involved regrassing the entire area, adding new bunkers and water hazards, and creating USGA-spec greens, ultimately extending the course to over 7,200 yards.
