Situated in Marion, at Butler Point's end in Buzzards Bay, the Kittansett Club derives its name from two Native American words meaning "near the sea." Originally, Native Americans guided Plymouth settlers and cattle to winter pastures here. In the early 1920s, residents acquired land from the Beverly Yacht Club, envisioning a unique seaside course akin to those in Great Britain. With Flynn's insights, Hood led the construction, blending American and British golf course elements. Kittansett, host to numerous championships, including the prestigious 1953 Walker Cup, underwent significant redesigns by Gil Hanse since the 1990s, aligning with Flynn's original vision and enhancing its coastal charm and challenge.
