Augusta National Golf Club

Few golf courses have undergone as many changes—or with as much success—as Augusta National Golf Club. Over the decades, the club has made frequent modifications to ensure the course remains a fitting challenge for the Masters Tournament, which it has hosted annually since 1934, except during World War II. These changes have created a blend of design elements: Alister MacKenzie and Bobby Jones laid out the original routing, Perry Maxwell contributed greens, Robert Trent Jones added water hazards, Jack Nicklaus introduced mounds and swales, and Tom Fazio spearheaded recent updates, including extensive tree planting and rebunkering. The evolution continues, with the par-4 fifth lengthened in 2018, adjustments to the 11th and 15th holes in 2022, and an additional 35 yards added to the iconic par-5 13th in 2023.
