Course Details
Richland Country Club began in 1901 as the Nashville Golf Club and has shifted sites several times, including a stint on a 1921 Donald Ross course. In 1988 the club moved to the rolling hills south of the city and commissioned Jack Nicklaus to create a modern layout. Atlanta architect Bill Bergin reshaped that design in 2021, widening fairways and greens, thinning trees, and rebuilding a smaller set of grass-faced bunkers cut into upslopes—moves that nod to Ross’s aesthetic. He also re-sequenced the routing by flipping the nines and reversing the directions of what are now the 1st and 9th holes (formerly the 10th and 18th) to improve flow. The renovation earned third place in the 2023 Best Transformation awards.
